MUTH 102 is the second quarter in a 2 year sequence of music theory courses that incorporates written theory and aural skills. second quarter content will include counterpoint (1:1, 2:1, and 4:1), and diatonic analysis. The aural skills component will focus on sight singing, intervals, melodic dictation, chord quality, and rhythm.
The keys to success in this class are as follows:
- Attend Class
- Do all Assignments
- Seek Help Early and Often
- Use the Theory Tutors
- Use the Software Available in the Computer Lab for Drill
- Remember that Speed is a measure of proficiency -- know your key signatures, scales, intervals, and chord spellings!
- Complete the Aural Skills Log for Each Week of Class
- Make Theory (the language of music) a part of all of your music activities!
